The harp lends a naturally romantic touch to any occasion. As a solo instrument, or in combination with melody instruments, such as the flute, the sound is delightful.
For background music, my favorite mix includes:
light jazz standards pleasing classical music movie themes popular songs from many eras and styles "new age" styles tangos and waltzes Broadway Celtic & American folk and sacred music when appropriate.

The parts of a wedding that typically use music are:
THE PRELUDE Atmosphere music as guests arrive. Choose a style of music you would like rather than a specific list of songs, as the time involved can vary greatly. Here are some sample titles. First Arabesque, Clair de Lune Debussy Air in G, Prelude in C, Jesu Joy... J.S. Bach Popular Love Songs from the 20's to the present, including broadway & movies Ash Grove, Simple Gifts, etc..... Folk melodies from Wales, America, Ireland, Scotland etc... Other "classical" composers Mozart, Vivaldi, Puccini, Grieg, Naderman, Dussek LIGHTING CANDLES, SEATING MOTHERS & GRANDPARENTS This may be part of the prelude, or you may choose special songs. PROCESSIONAL(S) Entrances of the wedding party and bride. One piece can be used, but when there are many entrances the bride usually has her own song. Marches are not required! Many brides choose softer sounding pieces, like favorite love songs or Celtic melodies. Bridal Chorus (traditional) Wagner Canon in D Pachelbel Trumpet Voluntary Purcell Triumphal March Handel Trumpet Tune Clark INCIDENTAL MUSIC Music during the wedding ceremony. Often used to accompany lighting the unity candle, communion, or signing the marriage license.
